Program: Beautiful Failures: The Hidden Value in What Went Wrong presented by Aaron Mason
In our pursuit of success, we often overlook the profound lessons hidden within our failures. This presentation explores the Mid-Continent Public Library's cultural shift towards one that embraces and analyzes our missteps, leading to unexpected breakthroughs in ways that success alone rarely can.
Aaron B. Mason is the Library Director and CEO of the Mid-Continent Public Library (MCPL) system. As CEO, he oversees the Library’s 33 branches across Jackson, Clay, and Platte Counties, which serve nearly 850,000 residents. Mason began with MCPL in January 2023. Prior to MCPL Mason served the Cleveland Public Library, where he spent nearly two decades, most recently holding the role of Senior Director of Outreach and Programming Services. Mason earned his Master of Library and Information Science from Kent State University and his bachelor’s degree from Indiana University. Outside of the office, he is a member of the American Library Association and Public Library Association.
